Across the Borders Driver Training (ABDT) was founded in April 2005 from the former A.B.I.T.School of Motoring, which was a well established and well known DrivingSchool based in Hawick.Training is not restricted to the Hawick area, hence one of the reasons for the change of name. There were two partners in the Company at that time, Ian Turnbull and Terry Swan.
Ian Turnbull has been a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor since December 2004 and is fast becoming a well respected Instructor, with a very good ‘pass rate’ reputation. He is fully committed to updating his own training as well as that of any clients. Ian undertook further training in 2009 which resulted in achieving an NVQ in Driving Instruction.
Terry Swan has been a well known and respected Driving Instructor for many years, particularly in the Hawick area and has a very good ‘pass rate’ reputation. Terry has retired with effect from May 2010. Many thanks go to him from Ian Turnbull for his generosity, patience and encouragement in the time prior to initial qualification in 2005 and his continued support until his retirement. Although Terry has retired, he continues to teach the Theory part of learning to drive from his home/office at 222 Weensland Road, Hawick.
Ian continues to be committed to providing a very high standard of driving tuition, with the main emphasis being on turning complete novices into safe drivers, whilst also encouraging newly qualified drivers to take further training to improve upon the skills they have learned.
